ApeX Omni review: an honest 2026 verdict

Updated July 2026 · Affiliate Code Research

ApeX Omni is a non-custodial perpetual-futures exchange: a decentralized venue where you trade with leverage from your own wallet, with an order book that feels like a centralized exchange but settlement that stays on-chain. This review covers what it does well, where it falls short, and who it actually suits — not a sales pitch.

We share the save20 referral code on this site, so treat us as an interested party and check the numbers yourself; every figure below is sourced to ApeX's own documentation. Short version: ApeX Omni is a credible, established perp DEX with genuinely low fees and a broad market list, held back mainly by liquidity that trails the category leader.

Key takeaways

  • ApeX Omni is a non-custodial order-book perp DEX built on zkLink X, live since 2024 as the successor to ApeX Pro (2022).
  • Fees are low: 0.02% maker / 0.05% taker, dropping to 0.016% / 0.04% with the save20 referral code (20% off).
  • It's not the 'Apex Trader Funding' prop firm and not 'ApeX Pro' (sunset) — this review is the ApeX Omni DEX at apex.exchange.
  • Strengths: no KYC, self-custody with an on-chain force-withdrawal exit, 90+ perps plus stock/commodity perps and prediction markets, backed by Dragonfly, Jump and Tiger Global.
  • Main weakness: liquidity is a fraction of Hyperliquid's, so very large orders on majors get better depth elsewhere.

First, which ApeX is this? (a common mix-up)

Search results for 'ApeX' mix up three different things, so let's clear it up before the review. This is a review of ApeX Omni, the decentralized crypto perpetuals exchange at apex.exchange. It is not Apex Trader Funding, an unrelated US futures prop-trading firm with a similar name. And it is not ApeX Pro, which was this project's earlier product — now discontinued and folded into ApeX Omni.

If you landed here looking for the crypto perp DEX and its referral code, you're in the right place. If you wanted the prop-trading firm, this isn't it.

What ApeX Omni is

ApeX Omni runs a central limit order book — the matching model traders expect from a centralized exchange — but settles trades on-chain using zkLink X, a zero-knowledge rollup. The practical upshot is that you get fast, familiar order-book execution while your funds stay in a self-custodial account rather than a company's wallet.

You onboard by connecting a wallet like MetaMask or by registering with an email, which creates a self-custodial embedded wallet whose key you can export. Either way there's no KYC. You can fund the account from five chains — Ethereum, Arbitrum, BNB Chain, Base and Mantle — and trade everything from one unified margin balance.

Fees: genuinely low, lower with save20

ApeX Omni's base perpetual fees are 0.02% maker and 0.05% taker, charged in USDT at execution, with no gas fee on trades and no cancellation fees. That already sits at the competitive end of the perp-DEX market. A seven-level VIP schedule steps rates down further as your 14-day volume (or APEX staking) grows, reaching 0% maker at the top tiers.

The save20 referral code applies a 20% discount to those trading fees — an elevated affiliate-tier rate, where most ApeX referral codes give 10%. With it, you effectively pay 0.016% maker and 0.04% taker. One honest caveat we repeat across this site: the referral discount doesn't stack with VIP rates, so ApeX gives you whichever is more favorable. For the vast majority of traders, that's the referral discount.

Funding is charged hourly and capped at ±0.05% per hour; it's exchanged between longs and shorts, not collected by ApeX, and no code discounts it. The separate Spot Swap product carries a 0.9% fee.

Security and trust

The strongest point in ApeX Omni's favor is structural: it's non-custodial, so your balance lives in smart contracts rather than as a claim against a company, and there's a documented force-withdrawal mechanism that lets you exit funds directly from the L1 contracts even without ApeX's cooperation. That's a materially different risk profile from a centralized exchange.

On track record, ApeX has operated perp markets since 2022 (as ApeX Pro, then Omni) with no known hack or loss of user funds, and it's backed by Dragonfly Capital, Jump Crypto, Tiger Global and Bybit-affiliated Mirana Ventures. The ApeX Pro contracts were audited by Secure3. We couldn't find a primary source naming a dedicated auditor for the current Omni-era contracts, so we don't claim one — the zk-proof settlement and force-withdrawal path stand in its place. Our full breakdown is in the ApeX safety review.

Markets and the APEX token

ApeX Omni lists 90+ crypto perpetuals with up to 100× leverage on BTC and ETH (around 50× on most alts), and goes wider than most rivals with stock and commodity perps (think SPY, gold, oil) and prediction markets. For a trader who wants crypto, equities exposure and event markets in one non-custodial account, that breadth is a real differentiator.

The APEX token adds governance and a staking system funded by weekly buybacks from trading-fee revenue; staking also feeds the VIP fee tiers. It's optional — you never need to hold APEX to trade or to use the save20 discount.

Where ApeX Omni falls short

The honest weakness is liquidity. Hyperliquid, the category leader, turns over roughly three to four times ApeX's daily volume, which means tighter spreads and deeper books on the majors. For most retail-sized trades this won't be noticeable, but if you move serious size on BTC or ETH, you'll get better fills there. We lay out the trade-offs in detail in our ApeX vs Hyperliquid comparison.

  • Liquidity trails Hyperliquid — the gap matters most for large orders on majors.
  • No dedicated Omni-era contract audit is publicly documented (Pro-era contracts were audited by Secure3).
  • Leverage up to 100× is a double-edged tool — most losses on any perp venue come from liquidations, not the platform.
  • Access may be restricted in some jurisdictions by ApeX's terms of service, regardless of the no-KYC front end.

Verdict: who should use ApeX Omni?

ApeX Omni is a solid choice if you want low fees, self-custody, no KYC, and a broad market list — crypto perps alongside stock, commodity and prediction markets — in a single account. It's less compelling if your only priority is maximum depth on BTC/ETH, where Hyperliquid leads.

If you do sign up, using the save20 code costs nothing and doubles the usual referral discount to 20% off fees — applied automatically, for the life of the account. That part isn't a judgment call: there's no downside to entering a working code.
